Character Information
Name: Jane Crocker
Canon Origin/Series: Homestuck
School Year: 1st
Gender: female
Age: 11
Out of school living location: York, England
Blood status: Pureblood

Personality:
A self-proclaimed professional prankstress, Jane oftentimes comes across as a fun-loving but sometimes level headed girl for her young age. She has a very business-like style of attitude, possibly from being the heir to the Crockercorp empire, and this is often made fun of by her friends, but in a deep contrast Jane has a very cheerful, very positive outlook on life, similar in some ways to her genetic donor and ectobiological son, John. She's quite skeptical, slow to believe the outrageous claims that her friends make against Crockercorp and also hesitant to believe UU's claims about herself.

Jane is if not a bit naive to the true nature of things to come. She speaks with perfect grammar and syntax, often correcting Roxy's spelling and grammar without much remorse when her BFFsies is overloading her with drunk text. She comes across as very prim and proper, unusual for a girl living in the year 2011, and hardly ever uses foul language, although she has used substitutes for swears. As previously stated, she's very naive and skeptical, both which have proven infuriating to her friends. She has a rather difficult time coming to terms with alternate views, particularly a negative one such as the idea of the Batterwitch existing. She has no idea that these things are the truth, due to two of her friends coming from a different time than she is, which is why she believes Roxy is lying when she says her mother is dead - in Jane's time, Rose Lalonde is very much alive.

As the heiress to Crockercorp, Jane is in a bit of a vulnerable position. Already in her young life there have been attempts on her life, possibly kidnapping attemps as well, and this is what makes Dad ground her so much; to keep her out of trouble and from dying. Due to the fact that she receives free experimental merchandise, Jane is more than often exposed to the subliminal messages each device contains, such as her tiaratop invading her mind with the messages OBEY and STOP REPRODUCTION. She says it gives her a headache, but she keeps using it due to being Betty Crocker's number one fangirl. She ignores the warnings her friends and her own father have given her, her impatience over being able to play a new video game winning over her common sense, and still she seems to be having trouble believing that this time could be dangerous, given that she operates soley on a seeing is believing belief.

While her disblief of the state of things can be difficult for those she's close to to handle, Jane does care very much for her friends. After seeing Dirk in the clouds on Prospit, she warns him of the impending doom to come, as shown in the flash [S] Jane: Enter. While she's not always agreeable to their own beliefs, she is reliable and although she has trouble handling her own emotions, she is willing to put her own feelings aside for the sake of someone else's happiness, as seen during the whole debacle where she failed to admit her feelings to Jake and listened unwillingly to him talk about finding out if he likes Dirk. She lies when questioned, encouraging him to pursue Dirk, showing that she deals with emotional stress and conflict rather badly.

Canon Background:

Background (AU!Canon; HP): [Pooting]
Jane Betty Crocker was born into a family of pureblood wizards. Her great-grandmother was the inventor of the Betty Crocker food brand, something that branched out beyond the wizarding world and into the Muggle world. Great Granny Betty wasn't exactly as pure as she made herself out to be though, the ingredients also having a potion mixed into the batter that acted like a powdered down version of the Imperious curse. The potion would send subtle hints to the consumers to OBEY and CONSUME, and a special STOP REPRODUCTION when it came to wizards that had Muggleborn or half-blood families. When it came to her arrest, Great Granny Betty claimed that she had done nothing wrong except preserving the purity of magic. She was forbidden from selling in the Muggle world and the Imperious potion was taken out of the product in order to continue selling in the wizarding world.

Of course, the trial delt a rather large blow to the Crocker family, Betty earning herself the suburban legend name of the Batterwitch.

Jane was always taught that this was a farce. Her grandfather, Betty Crocker's son John Crocker, became known as a magician and comedic legend among the Muggle world, something people could possibly call denial. His son though continued on his grandmother's legacy, teaching his daughter that the Crockers had done nothing wrong except for attempt to put Muggles in their place. Jane grew up in a very business-like environment, attending galas and learning proper pureblood etiquette as was expected of her. When her Hogwarts letter came, it was only expected for someone of their class. She was excited, that's for sure, but her father warned her about people who would try to convince her otherwise. She was stepping out into the dangerous wide world after being kept away from it for her own safety. But like they say, there's no safer place than Hogwarts.

How would your character fit in to each House?
Gryffindor:
Jane is quite reckless. She's constantly getting herself into trouble in canon and not listening to a single word anyone says. Or, well she does listen but it doesn't quite go through to her brain. Having had many attempts on her life, she's quite brazen with her courage when it comes to stepping foot out into the world beyond her house and into the game, but at the same time she doesn't have the courage to confess to someone she likes, which is entirely different when compared to the usual man grit Gryffindor house is known for.

Hufflepuff:
Jane is very loyal. Her loyalty to the Crocker brand and her friends is unmatched and oftentimes both conflict with one another. Recently in canon she has chosen to start believing in her friends more than she did before, telling Roxy that she would believe her stories about the future. She stepped aside and placed her own feelings away for Dirk when she failed to confess to Jake, something that she kicks herself about but even in her own blundering it shows that she cares about her friends.

Ravenclaw:
Jane is smart. While she's not as creative as say Dirk or Jade, she definitely has her own way about it. She's quite witty as well as having a natural curiosity, given her love for detective series and mysteries. She's interested in learning more about her friends and the worlds they live in, along with finding out about the game and what will happen when she pulls this or that dohickey. She's also naturally suspicious of everything, given her position as heir to Crockercorp.

Slytherin:
Jane is the leader of her session, much like John was before her in the Beta session. While it might not seem like it considering her position in the comic and among fandom, she's very much resourceful, relying mainly on herself at the start of act six due to the fact that she believes she can't trust anyone else and that Dirk and Roxy are telling her lies. Being heiress she must have heard many a lie in her life to be this skeptical. She's also a pureblood.

There was something not quite right about the cake in front of her.

Jane prodded at the chocolate mousse gateaux in front of her a little in dismay, a perpetual frown on her face. There was something she couldn't pick out that was wrong with it. She could not figure it out, but then again she had been eating her great-grandmother's cakes for most of her young life. She pursed her lips together in a frown, nibbling her bottom lip as she picked a piece up on her spoon. Ignoring the looks from her house mates, she held it up to her face, placing her head on her free hand as she popped the piece into her mouth. Yes, house elf cake was very different from the Betty Crocker brand, and Jane's eyebrows furrowed together as she realized she wasn't going to be getting the same taste she usually did.

With a small sigh, the young girl dropped her spoon into her bowl and chewed on the piece of gateaux in her mouth, placing her head in her hands with a small huff, blowing hair from her eyes. Someone was going to have to go down to the kitchens and teach the house elves how to make real cake, and Jane was pretty sure it was going to have to be her. She knew her great-grandmother's cakes were banned in the wizarding world for some incorrigible reason, but for the life of her she couldn't understand why. They were delicious, were they not? Why was there such a ruckus over some little thing that happened a long time ago? And not having cake for breakfast was a shame!! It should be made legal to have cake for breakfast. Why, it would be wrong if it was otherwise (which it was).

It was time to do a little investigating, Crocker style!
